Canada Salsa and Bachata Congress

Toronto, Canada

A large linear salsa and bachata congress that keeps a real Cuban thread: timba and Afro-Cuban classes, with Maykel Fonts and Jorge & Indira teaching during previous editions.

Toronto's congress fills the Fairmont Royal York for six days, and at twenty-one editions it is one of the oldest on the continent: three ballrooms, sixty international artists, twenty-two hours of social dancing and the Canadian championships. The floor is linear salsa and bachata, but a Cuban dancer is not stranded here. Maykel Fonts teaches, and Jorge & Indira run timba and Afro-Cuban classes alongside a two-hour Afro-Cuban intensive - sold separately from the full pass - that works the roots of Afro-Cuban movement into the salsa danced today. Come for the Cuban teaching rather than for the social rooms, which stay linear.
