Manana Ljubljana

The format is the reason to look. There are no parallel workshops and no choices to make: each day belongs to a single instructor couple, and everyone follows them through it. You get their style and their attitude at depth rather than a sampler of six teachers, which is the opposite bet from almost every festival on this list. It is run by Cubana Ljubljana, the school behind most Cuban dancing in Slovenia, and the name means cordiality in Ljubljana. That framing is not decoration: the event is small, sells out, and is built around a community that already knows each other. Past editions have brought Yanet Fuentes and Fredy Clan from Havana, Diana Rodríguez and Nano Hechavarría from Santiago, Ivan and Ivana Jovanović, and DJ Leo D'Cuba, with Cubismo playing live. The billing is casino and timba, with no linear salsa and no bachata room.
