Saigon Latin Festival (SGLF)

Vung Tau, Vietnam

Vietnam's largest Latin weekend, with one Cuban name on a lineup of thirty-five. The Cuban moment is Seo Fernández live, not a room of your own.

The centre of this festival is bachata and kizomba. Thirty-five artists come from the Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Morocco, Italy, Greece, Poland and Vietnam, there is a dedicated kizomba pass, and no Cuban style is named anywhere in the programme: no casino, no timba, no rueda, no son. The Cuban presence is Seo Fernández, playing live. Real timba on a real night, and worth the trip if you are already in the region, but one night rather than a strand you can follow across a weekend. Five days at a beach hotel in Vung Tau, two hours from Ho Chi Minh City, with three official festival days, a sunset pool party and small live sets between the workshops. The crowd is drawn from across Southeast Asia rather than from Europe, which makes it a different room from anything on this list. Come for the region and the beach, and take the Cuban night as a bonus. Do not come for the casino.
